Key Responsibilities:
Conduct chimney sweeps and inspections to ensure the safety and efficient operation of the chimney and fireplace.
Diagnose and repair firebox damages, ensuring they are no longer a fire hazard.
Address damaged brickwork, deteriorated mortar, and execute tuck-pointing procedures.
Troubleshoot gas fireplace lighting issues, gas log malfunctions, and fire glass damages.
Install complete fireplaces, gas units, custom chimney caps, custom glass doors, spark arrestors, and mesh curtains.
Repair structural damages in chimneys, broken dampers, and chimney caps.
Perform gas and wood burning conversions based on customer needs.
Address issues with downdrafts, creosote buildup, leaks, inadequate draft, and improper sizing.
Repair masonry water damage, flue damage, crown damage, and damaged chimney liners.
Evict animal infestations from chimneys, ensuring no harm comes to the animals.
Work with homeowners to enhance fireplace efficiency and provide tips for maintenance.
Remain updated on the latest industry standards, tools, and technologies to ensure optimal service.
Qualifications:
NFI certification or similar training
Previous experience as a chimney sweeper/technician or in a related field is a plus.
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in using tools and equipment necessary for the job.
Knowledge of safety protocols and guidelines when working with fireplaces and chimneys.
Excellent communication skills to liaise with homeowners and provide them with the best solutions.
Physical stamina to perform labor-intensive tasks and climb onto roofs when necessary.
